初夏の京都・宇治へ Going to Uji, Kyoto

雲一つない、爽やかな五月晴れのある日。
京阪電車に揺られ、徐々に田畑が増す車窓を眺めながら、向かうは宇治。お茶で有名なこの地に立ったのは初めてのことでした。
同行した母は、通った高等学校が京都にあったそうで、この辺りの駅名を懐かしんでおりました。
One day of May that there was no cloud in the sky. 
We were going to Uji, Kyoto by train. The view from the window was gradually changing to the countryside.
It was the first time I came to this place which is famous of the green tea.

My mother who went together missed the days of  high school in Kyoto due to a station name around here.

前日の曇天が嘘のような快晴。陽光が降り注ぐ中、宇治の地へ降り立ちました。
ええ、そう、GWまっただ中に来たんです。人ごみくらい予想していましたよ。人が多いくらいではへこたれません。
We stood at Uji in the sunshine of early summer.
Yes, I knew, I came here while GW (Golden Week means the long holiday of May in Japan). I expected crowds. I don’t mind a people jam.

まずは宇治川沿いをぐるっと散策。
We walked along the Uji river. 

鵜飼でも有名な宇治。途中産卵準備の鵜が数羽ケージの中にいました。
そして誘われるまま屋形船に乗り、宇治川を遊覧。建造物の朱色と山々の深い緑の対比が非常に美しかった。そして、新鮮な空気と川のせせらぎがわたしを眠りへといざなう・・・
And we rode ‘Yakatabune' at the Uji river. The contrast of colors that the scarlet of constructs and the deep green of mountains is very beautiful. The fresh winds and sounds of water, I felt sleepy…I spent few minutes in heaven.

いざ、平等院へ。
We went to Byodo-in Temple which is the world heritage.

鳳凰堂の中は見られなかったけれど、美しい平等院の外観を眺め、満足。
残念だったのは藤もつつじも終わりかけだったこと。つつじって年々咲くのが早くなっている気がする・・・
We were not able to see in the Hoo-do Hall, but we walked around and saw the appearance of Byodo-in Temple.

It was sorry that we missed a timing to see Japanese wisteria and azalea.

宇治抹茶ソフトとグリーンティを頂き、帰路に着きました。
We went home after having Matcha ice-creams and green tea.
